Porous Anion Exchange Membrane for Effective Acid Recovery by Diffusion Dialysis

Diffusion dialysis (DD) employing anion exchange membranes (AEMs) presents an attractive opportunity for acid recovery from acidic wastewater. However, challenges exist to make highly permeable AEMs due their low coefficient (Uacid). Here, a series of porous and fabricated based on chloromethyl polyethersulfone (CMPES) membrane substrate with crosslinking quaternization treatments is reported. Such show high Uacid because the large free volume as well significantly reduced ion transport resistance relative dense AEMs. Compared commercial DF-120 AEM, our optimal AEM simultaneous 466.7% higher 75.7% acid/salt separation factor (Sacid/salt) when applied at same condition.
